The fifth annual North Olympic Peninsula Open Chess Tournament (formerly the Port Townsend Open) begins on Jan. 7. It is a six-round, Swiss-style tourney.
Games are played at the rate of one game per week at the time and place of players’ mutual agreement. Time controls are also by mutual agreement and all are allowed (including speed chess). If no time control is agreed to, the default control is 40 moves in two hours followed by sudden death in one hour.
